Grassrootz
Grassrootz is a fundraising platform. The integration between eventplus and Grassrootz lets participants create their own fundraising page while registering for the event, with a single click.
Grassrootz connects to your eventplus event so participants can create a fundraising page as part of registration - no separate sign-up needed. Their page updates in real time with donations and fundraising effort to date, and can be viewed by charity or by team.
Events can support a single charity or several. Where there are several, you can set a few as primary charities which are shown prominently during registration. Participants can still search for and select any other supported charity.

Setup
1. Set up your Grassrootz account
Contact us and we'll make an introduction to the Grassrootz team to get your event's Grassrootz portal set up.
2. Connect Grassrootz to eventplus
Once your Grassrootz portal is ready, the rest of the setup is done from the eventplus dashboard:
- Navigate to Setup > Integrations > Grassrootz
- Event URL - enter your Event URL (e.g.
auckland2020- not the complete Grassrootz page URL) - Require a charity to be chosen - tick this to make fundraising mandatory. Every participant in the event must then fundraise, including group and team members.
- Allow searching from all categories - shows a search panel so participants can find and select any supported charity linked to your Grassrootz page, not just the primary ones.
- Availability - select which registration categories will display the Grassrootz charity section
- Supported fundraising types - leave as the default “Individual”, or select “Individual or Group Fundraising” or “Individual or Team Fundraising” if your event uses Groups or Teams and you want members to fundraise together. This also needs to be enabled on the relevant Group or Team Types. See Group/Team Fundraising below.
- Registration Form Section Name - the name shown for the Charity Selection section on the registration form
- Registration Form Text - a description shown to participants above the charity selection
- Charity Tiers to Hide - charity logos in hidden tiers won't be shown, but those charities can still be found by searching if searching is allowed. To hide several tiers, separate them with commas.

Once set up, charity options appear on the Registration Form, where participants can select a primary charity or search for their preferred one.
Group/Team Fundraising
Participants can fundraise together as a group or team. Individual members' totals are combined on one shared fundraising page. Events choose whether to enable this.
Groups and Teams Explained
eventplus supports both Groups and Teams, which work differently:

How group and team fundraising works
When registering a group or team, the group admin or team captain makes up to three choices. Which choices they see depends on two event settings:
- Is fundraising mandatory? If Require a charity to be chosen is ticked, every participant in the event must fundraise, whether or not they're in a group or team.
- Does the event support one charity or several?

A group or team fundraising page only includes members who chose the same charity as the group or team. Members who choose a different charity fundraise individually, and their totals aren't added to the group or team page.
Setup
- Go to Setup > Integrations > Grassrootz. Under Supported fundraising types, select “Individual or Group Fundraising” or “Individual or Team Fundraising”, depending on whether your event uses Groups or Teams.
- If your event uses Groups: go to Setup > Groups. Under Group Types, tick Group fundraising? for each group type you want to enable.
- If your event uses Teams: go to Setup > Teams. Under Team Types, tick Team fundraising? for each team type you want to enable.

Optional donations via the registration flow
Some events also want to offer a one-off donation option as part of registration. This lets a participant make a donation when they register, regardless of whether they create their own fundraising page. The event collects the donation and passes the revenue on to the charity, and the amount can also be reflected on the Grassrootz fundraising page.
Setup:
- Set up a charity under Setup > Charities (only the charity name is required)
- Create a question with type Currency: Free-type Monetary Amount or Currency with Free-type, depending on whether you want fixed amount options, free-type, or both
- Add your default donation amounts under the Choices tab - participants can choose from these or type their own amount
- Under the Options tab, set Assign to Grassrootz charity to the relevant charity from the list
